Have you performed any magical acts?
Yes, I have. I’ve been studying and practicing with runes for like 8 years now, but I’ve also done so with tarot (for 10 years or so), as well as divination rituals, spellcasting, banishing, cleansing, moon rituals, bindruning work, protection and warding and a bit of magickal work with plants (though my sister is the real master when it comes to botanical magick).
Do you agree with the idea that with magick you can change your belief and that will affect your life?
Yes, I do. I think that belief can rewire the brain, altering perceptions and actions. Neuroplasticity allows new neural pathways to form when you adopt new convictions, and those new convictions can be transformed into beliefs, which are the fuel needed for anyone to change their behaviours, patterns, habits and therefore their reality.
Magick offers tools to change one’s beliefs and perspectives, which can broaden your vision on any matter and gives you options to act differently.
Do you agree with the idea of the phrase “as above, so below”?
Yes, this is definitely a poetic yet profound framework for understanding the interconnectedness of the universe we are part of. I rather give some examples, related to what I do and what I’m interested in:
In rune work and tarot, individual symbols often echo larger archetypal patterns. As above, so below suggests that cosmic or spiritual truths manifest in everyday life. For instance, the chaos of Hagalaz (above, representing hail) may mirror internal turmoil (below), inviting personal transformation through symbolic awareness.
Our neural pathways are shaped by social, cultural, and digital environments—“above” forces that sculpt “below” internal processes. Habits driven by societal norms impact moral decision-making and emotional regulation, revealing the dance between outer systems and inner states.
Nietzsche’s eternal recurrence or Bauman’s idea of liquid modernity. Both reflect larger existential patterns mirrored in personal dilemmas. This example affirms that truth is recursive: ethical dilemmas at a societal scale often resemble those faced in intimate relationships.
In Hermeticism, the phrase bridges spirit and matter, heaven and earth—a call to align the soul's intentions with embodied actions. It encourages coherence between one's higher ideals and tangible decisions. Your goal of aligning values with growth fits this beautifully.
Writers often craft stories where character arcs reflect societal dynamics or vice versa. It’s a narrative embodiment of as above, so below. Journalism is an example of this framework as well, and it could link personal transformation with collective evolution—making people become passionate or reflect on abstract ideas.
