Today, I drew the Sowilo rune as part of my one-time study for task 3. This rune symbolizes the Sun, triumph, success, and illumination.
Often referred to as the Sun Rune, Sowilo embodies vitality, energy, and fertility, radiating warmth, optimism, and motivation. In Norse mythology, the sun is depicted as a blazing disc pulled through the sky by a wolf, ultimately destined to be devoured on Ragnarok day. While Sowilo represents achievement and uplifting energy, it also serves as a gentle reminder of the importance of continuous progress and the pursuit of greater aspirations.
On a personal note, I find it truly fascinating. As an Ojibwe woman, our culture includes Naming ceremonies in which individual spirits are given names. My spirit name is Giizis, meaning "the sun" in English, or as my elder affectionately put it, "our sun shining." I firmly believe that nothing happens by chance; everything is interconnected and happens for a reason.
