If you make a prayer/offering, write a forum post with the report.
Prayer:
My Lord and my God, I ask for your permission, your protection, and the permission and protection of your guardians, my higher guides, and my ancestors. Accompany me in this magical act, whose sole intention is to strengthen my growth so that I may be of service to light, love, truth, and justice.
May I have the clarity, the will, and the heart to build a straight path, the right path. So mote be it. Thank you.
Offering:
When I make an offering, it’s usually as a gratitude act (I don’t use them to ask for things). It can be a fresh flower, a little pure water, a piece of fruit, some honey, herbal smoke or a lit candle. The important thing is that it is alive, biodegradable, and loving. Something I can leave behind without dirtying or polluting. Something beautiful. Something sincere.

I agree with asking permission and protection from spiritual guides—or God—before any ritual. It is not a formality: it is a practice of ethics, reciprocity, and focus that aligns my intention with the symbolic fabric I work with. It helps me enter a state of serene attention, feel that I am not alone, remember that I am doing this work in the service of light and love, and hold the space with clarity.
I recognize that I do not work alone; I ask permission from guides, ancestors, and guardians, and I offer something in return (usually service or prayer). This keeps the exchange fair and conscious.
Protection delimits the space, reduces risks, and establishes containment. I do not give up my will; I mark what enters and what does not. This practice filters out interference and projections, refines the symbolic signal, and makes action clearer.
A well-opened/protected space orders energy, clarifies intention, and facilitates a proper closure to integrate the work done. I honor magic by respectfully asking permission and I align my values with my actions: I take responsibility for what I summon and the consequences.
In short, asking for permission and protection is my way of practicing magic with responsibility, beauty, and coherence. If I cannot open and close with respect, I prefer not to do it.
